Ranger spacecraft were launched on the Atlas-Agena B rocket. Ranger 7 arrived at the Moon on July 31, and began taking photos of the lunar surface. The craft sent 4,308 photos back to Earth before impacting near the equator at Mare Cognitum.
The Moon package includes:
- One snap together plastic model (no glue needed to assemble) as pictured
- 2-sided, full-color, illustrated educational information sheet (see below), which also includes assembly instructions
- 11 collectible trading cards of famous astronauts, scientists, equipment and events
